It’s The Freakiest Show…

Approximately 1000 tonnes of topsoil was picked up several hundred kilometers west of Sydney by strong winds, and then dropped on the city just before sunrise.

The result was apocalyptic-looking.

Twitter and Facebook were ablaze with references to either waking up on Mars, or the impending apocalypse. I began to wonder what a Martian apocalypse might look like. Scary stuff indeed.

I placed a photo on Facebook and titled it “Life On Mars?” Not long afterwards, a friend of mine created a photo album on her Facebook page entitled “Life On Mars”.

Cue 2008

“Iteration 37; another new year”/ Day 236: January 1 2008

It’s 13:36 on New Year’s Day as I type this, and I’ve had three hours of sleep. I only had two beers all night, but lack of sleep means I feel about as out of it as I would had I consumed 10 or so pints, but without the expense or ensuing hangover.

Sydney A to Z

I came up with the idea a long time back to take photos in suburbs of Sydney and arrange them alphabetically by the suburb’s name. Yesterday I took the final shot and have uploaded them for your perusal.

Unfortunately, there are no Sydney suburbs beginning with X.

BBC photo contest

My girlfriend Jen urged me to enter some shots into a photographic contest the BBC is running in which you can win £400 towards covering the news story of your choice. 

The contest is divided into rounds, each round having a particular theme. The current theme is “Look Up”, so this arvo I submitted the following shots…
