Playing with nice toys

A friend of mine recently acquired a Canon EOS 350D digital SLR camera (aka the Canon Rebel XT in North America). So I strolled around his area and took a few snaps with it.

I’ve been using an inexpensive but still impressive compact for my pics, and it felt great to hold a “real” camera in my hands. There were, though, more settings and twiddly bits than I knew what to do with. I have to say that the depth of field that I could get with the Canon was impressive. I’m a big fan of DoF, something that’s difficult to acheive in-camera with a compact.

If I wasn’t a Nikon fetishist (and didn’t already have a great collection of Nikon glass), I’d probably get a Canon, especially now that the EOS 400D is out, prices on the 350D are only gonna come down.

Dude, a Canon 350D/400D is way too small for your hands. Try something that is a handful or more, you would never regret it. Yeah I know, a small SLR is bigger than the Kodak. Aveagoodonemate
